May 31st 2018 Sheila was picked up as a stray by the Garland City Animal Control. She didn’t have a name, only known as A230624. A group of shelter volunteers posted her video playing with a ball and showing how great her manners were. A active foster saw the video and knew she had to save her! A rescue contacted her and said they’ll pull her if she can commit to fostering her.
She was picked up from the shelter June 14th, 2 hours before she was set to be euthanized. She had 3 glorious nights in a home! Jumped on the couch, played with a toy, played with the families dogs. Her favorite friend was their dog named Buford.
On day 3 of her new life she got sick and her foster dad took her to the Vet. She had an Upper respiratory infection, phew! Got her meds and brought her back home. 7 days later they’d get the news that she had Pneumonia and Distemper. So they set on for the fight of her life!
This is my story of how my husband and I adopted Sheila. This isn’t a glamorous story, nor does it have a happy ending. New Life IFS Rescue and I worked SO HARD to save this girls life. Mini Mutts Animal Rescue helped in every way they could, every step of the way.
July 25th 2018 at 945 I authorized her to be put to sleep. She wanted so desperately to fight, but without getting into the ugly details, her body just couldn’t fight anymore.
Vaccines save lives!!! Simple as that!
